Any mechanical watch requires a little more elaborate servicing than the quartz version. Though it is more like every 4-5 years.

The quartz version is somewhat more accurate (though the mechanical is plenty accurate for normal use) and the quartz has a nifty 'timezone' feature that allows you to change the hour without stopping or otherwise effecting the minute and second hands.
