If I were you I'd save up my pennies and go for a brand new speedy professional. That is a watch that you can wear day in and day out and not have to worry too much about, you can also get great prices on the Speedmaster reduced but if you want a vintage Speedy than only buy it if your sure its a commitment you're willing to live with because that is one commitment (pending you don't sell the watch) you will have for a long time.
I have several Omegas that I plan to pass down in my family, aside from the select few I'll be burried with. ;-)
