Let me first address that I didn't mean to offend anyone owning this watch, and my review based on 'eveyone is entitled to their own opinion.'
From what I understand (and was told) the watch can measure 3 time zones... 1) Normal hour hand 2) GMT hand 3) GMT hand with adapted bezel was I misinformed/jump to the wrong conclusions?
I have heard that the GMT was one of the more accurate Omegas, a friend of mine has the black dial GMT and his is more accurate than my SMP (assuming that both our tests were done without error (yeah right...)) ;-) Could the accuracy be related to the GMT movement verse the non-GMT or is it just coincidence?
I guess the bright white dial isn't really my style. It stands out to much which is why I own black and dark blue faced watches.
When I was talking to about the bezel I meant 'left it polished steel' referring to the SMP with unpainted steel bezel where its just polished and the numerals were painted/engraved (never seen that particular model in person.)
The unidirectional/bidirectional bezel is something I've always gotten confused, and I apologize. Judging from every other SMP I've held the little tension required to turn the bezel was not due to the watches manufacture, probably an abusive owner.
If I were to buy the black faced GMT and I switched the bezel with the normal black SMP style wouldn't I still be able to measure 2 timezones? (all that I'd ever need; home and local.)
This particular watch did have the profesional clasp but I know some of them come with the Aqua Terra style hidden clasp. I didn't get to open it to see if there was a divers extension because of a label wrapped around it. I'm assuming there is a divers extension?
I had read a prediction in a watch magazine that Omega was going to start adding the the larger shoulders (that protect the crown) on the SMP line is there any truth behind it? I think that would be a good move!
I didn't mention the GMT feature in my post because I wouldn't think it would need to be mentioned its a great feature and on top of that a very practical one for people that travel through timezones frequently. I just wish Omega offered an Aqua Terra GMT that would be a beautiful watch.
My review was offered solely as my opinion, and it wasn't intended to bash the watch. It was how I SAW IT. I obviously didn't have the time to go into real depth like I did when I bought my SMP, I got to wear the full-size for 11 days while a friend was on vacation to see how it performed in real life and obviously it showed it was worth the $750.00 I payed for a barley touched middy. My Speedy date was bought brand new from your man Mr. Downing and I love that watch to death, while it doesn't feel as sturdy as the SMP does on my wrist (perhaps a mental thing) its a beatiful watch and I have yet to find a flaw with it.
I would like to send out my personal apology, and you must understand I did not mean to offend anyone. I was trying to share my opinion of the watch from a critical point of view.
