The GMT's real value is not for travel or spelunking. Rather, it is an indespensable tool watch for the Intarweb explorer!
Seriously. Whether or not you travel, being online, you probably have acquaintances all over the world. With a GMT, it's much easier to remember when folks are likely to be online, and when they are likely to be in bed.
That's one major reason I got my GMT.
