I just bought a 2531.80 from the authorized dealer recommended by Keith. All in all, a very pleasant experience. I cannot take it off!
But my whole quest for a new watch originated when I took my 10-year old Tag Heuer diver's quartz watch in for its second battery replacement, a 4 to 6 week wait. The dealer tried to sell me an Ebel quartz and I started to think again about an automatic watch and happened upon this group. Great group!!!!!
What do I do when I get my Tag back? I love the Omega and can't imagine ever not wearing it. My 15-year old son thinks I should give the Tag to him. I was 40 years old before I could justify a $700 watch and it seems to me that a 15 year old would not appreciate it or care for it properly. I might keep it for actual diving and salt-water fishing and boating though it seems redundant. If I don't use it, the battery will just wear out in a couple of years and I will have another $100+ for a replacement.
It is too nice a watch (SS and 18 ct. gold) to just put it in my drawer with the old Seikos and Casios, yet it would fetch little if I sold it. Do many of you wear multiple watches when one of them is an automatic?
Thanks--while I am 51 years old, I am a newbie to the world of fine watches.
