: Can a 3 year old watch that hasn't
: been worn be consider a brand new watch?
Yes. Watches do not have either 'expiration dates' like food or 'model years' like cars. And the warranty starts from the date of sale to the first owner. So there is no reason to worry about how long the watch sat in the dealer's inventory before you buy it. Nothing goes wrong from a new watch sitting.
Only exception is that with a quartz watch. If it has been running for several years before you get it, you'd want to make sure the battery was replaced before the end of the warranty.
