Thanks for your input. To answer your first question, the watch band seems to pick up scratches easily if you wear it often. The rest of the case doesn't scratch as easily. Regarding you second question, the entire watch from the caseback to the crystal measures about 7mm. The watch is fairly thin compared to most other seamasters, but it does have the substantial weight. I would highly recommend it as a gift to anyone who appreciates a fine swiss timepiece.
: Perhaps 120m waterproofing insolates the
: speaker too much, especially with all that
: Steal and Sapphire surrounding it.
: I would not worry about it too much, unless you
: want to send it to Lancaster PA to see if
: they can do anything about it.
: Occasionally Omega has a parts recall on a
: watch, so when you send it to Lancaster they
: replace the part with a new version. I once
: got a brand new clasp on my 20 year old
: Seamaster that way. I suggest in two years
: when your watch is ready for another
: battery, and maybe new gaskets, you send it
: to Lancaster. They can also buff up the
: Stainless steel to make it look good as new.
: Unfortunately, the cost for all this is
: $300-$400, so it's probably not worth it on
: a $900 watch. First write/call Lancaster to
: see if the alarm was recalled for
: replacement. Even if your Watch is out of
: warrantee, they will honor any part recall.
: Besides, I'm sure you didn't buy that watch for
: it's alarm function.
: Casio makes ton's of great alarm watches for a
: tenth of that cost.
: ----------------------------
: Brett, I'm considering that watch for a gift
: and have two questions. (I'm used to wearing
: a Titanium watch.)
: Does the Stainless Steel on your watch pick up
: a lot of scratches and scuff marks from
: daily use?
: The only place that quoted the thickness of the
: bezel said it was 7mm. That sounds way too
: thin for such a watch. Could you possibly
: measure it, or look up the dimensions in the
: booklet it came with? You can measure it by
: taking a bunch of nickels and seeing how
: many high in nickels your bezel is. Since
: each nickel is about 2mm thick, your bezel
: should not be thicker than 4 nickels. That
: will give me a clue...
: Thanks, and enjoy your stealthy silent
: Seamaster!
