...this kind of understandment doesn't seem to be your cup of tea, and I'm not exactly sure if it would be mine if I were in your situation. Giving advice on how other people should spend their money is something different than deciding what to do with ones own money. Not that I had any of it anyway. ;-)

You said in your initial post that you are *currently* eyeing the DeVille. If you had been after it for a few years, I'd say get it now to release the pain. But as things are now, I'd say, why don't look at the offerings from other manufacturers?

Nine grand open up a whole lot of very nice possibilities for you, and I don't see why you shouldn't move away from the mainstream. You're even in the market for a Patek there.
