Have you thought about a NATO strap? Gives the watch a real military look. I also have a six & half inch wrist and a NATO strap tends to work quite well with my SMP.
Also, you could try adding and removing the full and half links until you get a comfortable fit. I have found that the half link does not exactly equate to half the legth of a full link. So you may have to mix and match until you get the fit that's right.
But if you get the chance, try the NATO strap. Once you get that on your wrist, you'll feel like diffusing a bomb!
