I now own two of these and have conducted extensive research into the authenticity issue. This is the model known as the Speedmaster Classic and referred to by some as the "Golden Gate" model. The movement is supposedly a Valjoux (calibre 7750?) modified by Omega as calibre 1150.
The Classic was apparently only produced in the early 90's. Omega says that one of mine has a manufactured date of 7/31/90 and the other is 03/19/02. Both have now been confirmed as authentic. The earlier watch has the hesalite crystal but the other was manufactured with the sapphire. Both are 18K/SS but I have seen a photo of a full 18K model.
They are currently being cleaned, serviced and regulated by my watch man. When I get them back, I will post photos of my Classic twins. They are gorgeous and both in excellent condition.
Regards,
John
