brands stand behind their products. I assume (but have no first hand confirmation) that each watch that leaves the factory has been checked/tested for water resistance. Or, pehaps, they take samples and verify those, I do not know the actual quality assurance method deployed by Omega.
I do suspect that the depth rating is standardized by some official body (perhaps DIN 8308 or NIHS 91-10).
Omega (or any other manufacturer) can only be accountable to failures due to faults in the manufacturing process. If the fault is due to lack of maintenance (example regular checking of seals) then the fault belongs to the owner and not the manufacturer and I can't see why it should be covered by any guarantee.
As for your G-Shock example, was the watches within the warranty period or not? Your assumed Omega answer implies that it happened after the warranty period, otherwise I can't understand your theoretical Omega response.
As for your "cannot be replaced" statement, that is more to do with specific company policies and has really nothing to do with depth rating.
