Re: Minute Hand Deterioration on SMP

DWW:I know u said it was never submersed in water so the only theory I have is that perhaps somehow moisture crept into the case...im not sure how since i dont think this can happen with a loose helium valve.....do u live near the ocean...almost sounds like salt water exposure...??

: Hi, I have a 2 year old Bond model automatic
: with skeleton hands. I noticed the other day
: that the helium valve had become loosened
: from normal wear and I immediately shut it.
: The watch was not exposed to water at all
: and never has been submersed at any time.
: While the valve was opened, I noticed what
: appeared to be swirl-like scratches on the
: inside of the crystal which disappeared 10
: minutes after the valve was closed.
: The problem is, now the metal on the minute
: hand appears to be deteriorated. It looks as
: though it has small speckles on it which I
: am sure are not water spots. Has anyone
: experienced this? The watch is still keeping
: excellent time but there is serious
: degeneration of the metal on the minute
: hand...it looks like metal speckles in some
: places, in others, it appears as though the
: silver coat on the metal of the hand is
: bubbling upward??? Very strange and
: discouraging. Any thoughts?
