From what I understand, Omega replaced a component in the 1861 with a plastic/synthetic piece for less friction, longer wear, and better performance. This component was replaced by the metal one in the 1863 because Omega did not want the plastic piece to be seen through the display back. Other than that I think the two movements are identical.
