Well, with this definition, I would agree that the Casio G-Shock, in all of its variations, is a great tool watch...I've had two over 15 years.

But I might also give high marks to the...hold your breath...Sieko Dive watches from the early to mid 1980's. They had a great protective bezel, day/date, comfortable case shape, and mine never needed service as long as I had it. The price was, and still is, right for an auto.
