: Hmm, okay. I know it isn't a proper authorised
: dealer in the true sense of the word,
There is no leeway here. They are either totally factory authorized, or they are gray market. Some gray market dealers are fine, reputable businesses while others are really bad to do business with. But that's true of authorized dealers, too. The big difference is Omega and the other Authorized Dealers will stand behind their product if the Authorized Dealer you originally purchased from doesn't do you right.
I have guided several people though situations where Omega USA had to interviene on a customer's behalf where an Authorized Dealer wasn't doing the customer right.
But with gray market dealers, you are TOTALLY on your own if there is a problem with the purchase or their local store warranty. You have NO Omega factory warranty and no recourse to have Omega interviene. Since gray market dealers have no business contracts or obligations to Omega, Omega has no way to pressure them!
: from what I've read on this site the main
: problem with most grey market watches is
: that the serial numbers are removed. This
No, most gray market dealers do deliver with serial numbers. Only a small portion do not.
The biggest problem is what I stated above about you being S.O.L. if they won't do you right over a problem during or after the sale.
