logic on enthusiasts boards...trying to argue these points here is a valiant yet pointless challenge...almost like extolling the virtues of Omega on a Rolex forum...for what it is worth I agree with your original assessment, Both companies make great products that IMHO are pretty hard to compare and on different spectrums that appeal to different buyers..those that like traditionalism and classism have alot of choices with Rolex but only a few with Omega, those who like current design, good affordability and a new trendy look have alot with Omega and virtually nothing with Rolex...
I personally enjoy the classic pieces that Omega offers (Deville co axial and the Speedy moon) and not much else...wheras I like much of what Rolex offers....if Omega continues on their path of more retro designs, and they do alot to improve their service then this might change for me.
I do agree with your analogy though and feel it is a good one (Red Sox/Yankees...Ford/Chevy) and feel for many it does come down to that...
