: Omega has made some significant changes to
: their omega seamaster dial.
Did that back in 2000.
: markers are very different.Does omega intend
: to stop producing the 2531.8 model and
: giving James Bond a new look? Personally, i
OMEGA does not choose the watch for James Bond. The costume director for the Bond movies makes that choice. For the past four films, this has been Lindy Hemming. And she won't make that decision until the next Bond film starts pre-production sometime in 2004 (expected release November 2005).
But due to the popularity of the 2531.80 being featured in four James Bond films to date, OMEGA would be insane to drop that model.
: think that the James Bond version of the
: seamaster still looks solid with a style
: thats still fashionable. I have only seen
: internet photos of the newer model.
You must not get out much. The newer style SMPs have been out for three years. A couple of models with this newer style (the black-dial GMT and the titanium SMP Diver) came out *five* years ago. Go just get out to any OMEGA dealer to see one.
: Can anyone out there do a stlye and look
: comparison and share your opinions?
Search ths forum. This has been discussed many times over the past five years.
My personal opinion is that OMEGA went a little too bold with the dial and bezel markings on the newer style. Makes it look very sporty, but loses the more subtle elegance of the 'Bond' version.
