1) If you do not buy the watch from an authorized dealer you do not get Omega's factory warranty. Further, if the watch needs factory service down the road Omega will refuse to do it if the watch was not bought from an authorized dealer. Even further, I know someone who can give you the name of an authorized dealer who will give you as good a discount (or better) as any "deal" you'll find anywhere on the web.

2) I have only had mine about a year (the Bond 2531.80), and I can tell you that the bezel has absolutely no scratches. I wear my watch 24/7 too. The bracelet and clasp are loaded with scratches from normal wear (as would be the case with any watch), but you have to look fairly closely at the watch to see them. My friend's $3900 Rolex looks the same as my Seamaster in terms of wear and tear, so I think Omegas hold up very well to normal use.
