Many experienced watch owners may find the "quality control" hypothesis hard to believe, just as you do. The "chronograph issue" sounds like a dealer smokescreen also. If there were a batch problem, you would not have been given a replacement watch from the same batch ...I hope!

What exactly do you mean by "... the 3rd one, which i've had for just about 4 months, had stopped at 2:15am. I had gone to bed at midnight, so it only lasted just over 2 hours."

What was it that "lasted" just over two hours? Did you wind it by hand?

Since you are having the SAME problem with 3 different watches, all in 10 or 11 months, I can still only suspect that you don't wear it enough or you are not active enough, or do not wind it enough after "time off". Here are a few other things to look at, IMO:
1) Is the crown screwed down after setting/winding?
2) Have you exposed it to high temps? (hot tub, sauna etc.)
3) Have you exposed it to harsh chemicals?
4) Is it (or you!) ever near STRONG magnetic fields?

If you "ballpark" estimate that 1 out of 100 watches has this problem, AND the problem is randomly distributed, then the chance that you would get this SAME problem on three watches is (1/100)^3 or 1 in 1 million!
