On second thought this might be false. The all important spring suspensioned gasket will for sure hold to several meters, I am getting a little unsure, if it holds until my posted 300m, if the crown is unscrewed?. Point is when you decompress you don't need 300m water resistance, since you are in a decompression chamber. But theoretically the gasket alone must hold 300m once you dive to the surface very slow, like in decompression, in an emergency situation. Well, I guess normally nobody is equiped to dive up from 300m, but I just assume that decompression can also involve a water rich environment and not necessary the dry diving bell. Geeezzzz, this is really heavy stuff. One day I might actually go real diving, someday, with my Seamaster ;-).
