A link I purchased from Omega in Pa. was (at least the package was) marked made in Hong Kong. It fit perfectly, but had me curious as well.
G
: My sources told me they were made in
: Switzerland. But I have no way to confirm
: this, other than asking Omega directly.
: For a watch to be labeled Swiss Made, they have
: to have a large amount of their components
: made in Switzerland. Given this, the idea of
: major components of Omega watches being made
: elsewhere is not very plausible.
: Arguing about small component prices is silly.
: It is not the total of the pure cost to
: manufacture that makes luxury products
: valuable. It is the superiority of design,
: attention to detail, and well placed
: perception of refinement and superiority
: that make a luxury product.
: Just look at Rolex. They use bracelets of
: simpler and cheaper design and have
: movements that are *maybe* only slightly
: better than Omega's. Yet Rolex watches sell
: for near TWICE what a comparable Omega does.
: VALUE? If you want pure value, go buy a Timex.
: If you want a fine luxury product, you pay the
: price. I have seen no cause to question the
: quality of Omega products. They are by far
: one of the BETTER VALUES in luxury watches
: compared to their competition.
