The inside story on dealer service...
In Response To: Not for me on a quartz>> ()

: Seems any US service center here does more
: damage then good when the authorized dealer
: sends it in to get fixed under warrentee.

That's quite a grand exaggeration.

The Lancaster Service Center has had some problems. But have not heard any complaints about OMEGA HQ in Switzerland or the increasing number of independent watch service companies across the US that are now authorized by OMEGA.

Also, you don't need the authorized dealer to send the watch in for you. You can do that yourself and choose which center it goes to.

Plus, many authorized dealers DON'T send your watch to the official service centers, but instead farm the work out to a local repair shop and bill OMEGA for the work. They do this--selling the customer short--because they often get a higher cut of the repair money. So you can't always be certain it was really an official OMEGA service center that did a bum job on a repair through the dealer. Hence the reason for sending your watch in yourself so you KNOW who really is doing the work!
