So based on what I'm hearing, it would seem that the Seamaster is generally a more rugged watch. But what about the movement itself? Isn't an automatic less shock resistant than a manual wind? Has anyone had any problems with the 1120 movement over the long haul? It almost seems to me that a manual wind Seamaster would be the ultimate in durability. But on the other hand, maybe the fragility of an automatic movement is overblown?
: I was having trouble making the very same
: decision about 3 years ago before finally
: settling on the Seamaster Pro, my first and
: only Omega so far (other than my wife's
: Constellation I bought her this year).
: I decided on the Seamaster because I intended
: to wear it daily, which is exactly what I
: have done for 3 years now. I wear it
: everywhere, including bed, and take it off
: only to shower or do anything especially
: dirty/dangerous, like yard work or the like.
: As a daily wearer, I felt the Seamaster would
: stand up better, as it is a bit more rugged
: in construction, for instance, the protected
: crown.
: I still intend to get a Speedmaster Pro someday
: as a secondary watch. Manual wind,
: non-sapphire crystal, and display back will
: make the Speedmaster a great watch to wear
: only when I know I won't be banging it
: around. The Seamster will always remain my
: "beater." By the way, it is a
: great watch and I would recommend it to
: anyone.
: Good luck with your perchase.
