Re: Blue Paint at four corners

I got my new Speedmaster in 1997. At that time, my Speedmaster had both sides of the crystal coated!
However, I notice the four corners of the watch head have blue paint on them! Are they protective paint?
When I use the watch, the paints slowly peel off!
However, when I buy a new Speedmaster in 2002, I can't see the paint again anymore although the shape of Speedmaster is pretty much the same from five years ago! The crystal is one-side coated for the new watch. Anyone can help me out? Thanks.
