I posted this elsewhere about the autos>>
In Response To: Auto or Quartz - Please Help ()

..it was in response to a question from a fellow who's SMP was running too fast or slow after just 18 months,I think. There seems to be frequent problems from the auto owners camp, nary a peep from the boys in quartz though.Hmm...
Any ways ,here's what I had written....
"Think of posts like this for an answer.
I get very annoyed when I read these same posts time after time. You spent good money on the "better" auto version of the SMP with the beautiful decorated movement and smooth sweeping seconds hand. Now you have a sour taste in your mouth and have to endure sending it to Bienne so that the US service center does'nt scratch up the watch on you.
I had a beautiful vintage Rose Tudor that I spent a decent chunk of change on to have cleaned and restored. Two years later it ran 20 minutes fast AN HOUR!I got fed up and sold it on Ebay as is.
I really hope you can get it straightened out quickly and at little inconvenience or expense. These are well made timepieces, and when things like this happen it can spoil the whole experience and joy of owning a fine watch.Like my Tudor fiasco.
Perhaps you just need a regulation or the watch was just dropped or jarred too hard.
Sorry to hear this, and I pray you have peace about it soon."
: Hi All,

: Thank you to everyone who responded to my
: question about the grey market watches. I
: think I have decided to go with an
: authorized dealer. My next question will be
: my final determining factor. That is do I go
: with a Auto or the quartz model of the Omega
: Seamaster 300m Bond Watch.

: The auto is heavier and has a slightly smaller
: face design than the quartz. They told me it
: really shouldn't be worn when doing high
: energy things like sports or work. Plus of
: course there is the money difference.

: The quartz is a bit lighter. They said it is
: more accurate than an auto. It has a
: slightly larger face and rather than the
: sweeping motion of course has the ticking
: motion.

: I am really stuck as to figuring out which one
: to get. I am a college student and work in
: Law Enforcement.

: I know it is probably a personal preference for
: most but I am curious as to what everyone
: likes or what is more popular? Can anyone
: tell me what kinds of things I need to keep
: into consideration when making my choice or
: what the pros and cons are to both?

: Thank you so much for taking the time to help
: me out with my research and Happy Holidays
: to you all!!!

: John
