You aren't really doing anything worthwhile to honor your fond memories of your father by throwing tons of money fixing a watch of his which you already said never worked right from the start. Why waste lots of money resurrecting a dud watch simply over sentimental value?
Instead, simply buy a new Coaxial -- which is what you really seem to want. Then *transfer* the sentimental value to it by considering it the decendant of your father's watch. That way you are honoring your father by continuing his tradition of wearing a nice OMEGA, without having to go to a lot of potentially wasted expense trying to force his old one to meet your needs.
