fitting a new crystal

SG USA in PA has replaced the crystal on my SMP for me. but the crystal is not "all the way in" it is only about 2/3 of the way in and it is sticking out. it is not flush with the bezel like when it was new if you understand what i mean.

i am taking the watch for other problem to an authorized service center in los angeles next week, so i was gonna have them fix this problem as well.

but not knowing how the crystal is fit, i have decided to just push the crystal in with my own hand since i didn't want to wait another few days. i pushed it hard til my face turned red and my thumb started to hurt. the crystal did go in a little, and it is lot better now. but my goal is to have it all the way in until it is flat with the bezel.

now, can anybody tell me if this is bad for the watch for me to just push the crystal like this??? i got the old crystal that they have replaced with, and it looks like the crystal is just fit tight into the bezel with a gasket and nothing much to it.

thanks!
