: I love the look of the JB Seamaster and Seamaster Chrono faces. The GMT is
: okay for some, but I hate the idea of importing it to the Pro series.
The current style is again being promoted as the 'James Bond' watch in the upcoming Bond movie set for release November 19, 1999. That is right about when the year 2000 watch models are likely to be released. So I cannot imagine them discontinuing the current style anytime soon -- especially within weeks of when another movie featuring it comes out.
Hopefully, they will keep in mind one of the things that has made the competing Rolex Submariner such a success -- they stuck with the same style for decades. That is what makes a watch an enduring classic. While Omega is doing good by adding fresh variations to the product line, I hope they do not keep changing things so much that none of their Seamaster watches become classics.
Omega is pretty quiet about the details of forthcoming models. All that we have any clear info on is:
+ One owner reported getting an e-mail reply from Omega mentioning that the new look would appear on more models in the Seamaster year 2000 model line.
+ Someone on TimeZone showed a photo of a current Japanese-only model that was a mid-size in the newer style.
So my guess is that at the very least, the new look will appear on a steel full-size and steel mid-size model. Possibly a two-tone and solid gold, too.
