SMP 300 Timekeeping

Hi,

I bought my SMP (mechanical) new in October 2003. At the time and for the few months thereafter, it ran at a steady rate of approximately +2 secs per day. I wear my watch every day and take it off at night.

Now, about 14 months after my purchase, the watch still runs a bit fast, but not quite as much. As a point of reference, it gained approximately 5 seconds in the last 14 days.

Should I expect my watch to progressively run slower and slower as time passes by (because of wear?) until it will eventually run a little bit late, or has the watch simply settled into a slower "groove" after about a year of use?

I am not overly concerned with this situation and am more than happy with my SMP's time keeping. However, I would like to know what I can do to maintain it and good shape, prevent deterioration, and make sure it keeps on running that well?

Thanks for your advice and best regards,

Claude
