Yeah, for me it's a catch-22. If I remove a half link then the watch is tight and uncomfortable in warm weather. By keeping the half link in, the watch is loose at all times except when I sweat, so I do get a very slight bruise from time to time on my hand (right where the crown hits it). Since the bruise is mild and less of a concern than a watch that feels too tight, I have just decided to live with the bruise.
