1948 was the year the Seamaster was introduced. So if it is in good condition, it may well be of notable interest.
Though any watch that has been heavily worn will be pretty limited in its remaining value. Whatever it might have been worth in mint condition is irrelevant if it is in poor cosmetic or mechanical shape.
Likely the band it is on is an inexpensive aftermarket one. A nice way to improve the watch would be to have it cleaned up and put on a leather strap.
