Help! I dropped my Speedmaster

It's a Speedy Pro which is about 2-3 months old. I dropped it onto a hard floor and it appears that a shard of the hesalite crystal has broken off inside the watch and is now loose and floating around in there. It's about the length of the "Speed" in the Speedmaster on the face of the watch, and about the width of the small second hand. Seems to have come from the edge of the crystal, where it meets the case. I'm surprised that the acrylic crown would break in this way. Thought that hesalite was tougher than that.
Since I have no local dealer that I would trust to work on a watch, and due to the horror stories I've heard about the Omega USA repair center, I guess my only choice is to send it back to Switzerland? That seems like overkill for simply replacing the crystal though. I don't think there is any other damage to the watch, although it just happened, so it may be too soon to tell.
Looking for advice.
