Just a guess but I can't imagin the watch itself costs more than a few hundred to produce. $400 at the most but prob much less. That's just the way it is with retail.
As suggested in the consumer section of this site, best not to think about it or you'll make yourself crazy.
Even more crazy when you thing about more pricy mass produced watches like Rolex. Can a Rolex cost much more than an Omega to produce? Probably not. A Rolex must be marked up 6 or 7 times or more from the production cost.
If anyone has an idea what the actual production cost is I'd be interested to know?
