All mechanical watches vary. However, in my case, my Bond SMP loses time in virtually all positions except face down and crown down. I use crown down as the night position as it seems to work out the best and I can still see the dial glowing at night (to check the time!).
You may also want to ensure that the source with which you are checking time is consistent and accurate...sometimes reference signals can be "off".
anyhow, good luck and enjoy your watch, a few seconds here or there is nothing to be worried about!!!
