Neither of these watches would look out of place with a suit. Unless you are in a really uptight crowd that just has to find something to scrutinize.
Again, it comes down to WHO you are trying to impress and WHAT they think of these things. My previous point was that so few people anymore even notice watches anymore. I highly doubt that you'd find anybody that would think less of you because the bezel on your watch is just a little too sporty.

Looks wise, I think the TAG is a little more ordinary looking. The SMP is a bit more distinctive.
Mechanical wise, I think both would serve you well. If you are more into the history of the companies and technical details of the movements, then OMEGA has a number of plusses over the currnt TAG models. But most of that is at a more esoteric level.
