Re: I think this is even sadder...

: Ah, but don't forget... the quality of the
: answer depends a lot on exactly WHAT he
: asked.

: Coverage is not a simple yes/no answer, since
: product warranties normally do not cover
: just *anything* that might happen to a
: product. Is it covered for damage, no. Is it
: covered for scratches, no. Is it covered for
: defects, yes.

: And the sellers of these extended warranties
: know how to frame people's thinking so they
: ask questions of their manufacturer's
: warranties that they know the answer will be
: no. Such as: Is there a guaranteed, no
: questions asked, replacement should *any*
: problem occur.

: So if he didn't fully understand what he was
: asking, or didn't ask the same question at
: both locations, then the answers -- taken
: out of context -- may seem contradictory
: when they might not have been.

Here is how I posed the question to each:

1. Lancaster:
To: 'sgcst@swatchgroup.com'
Subject: Warranty question

I recently purchased the Omega SpeedMaster 3513.50 and would like some
clarification on the warranty. Is the bracelet and clasp covered by Omega
for 2yrs? How about the crystal?

Best Regards,

Bill Powell

2. Switzerland:
I have the SpeedMaster # 3513.50.

Is the metal braclet and clasp covered under the 2yr warranty?

Except for the mention about the crystal, the questions were identical, yet as you can see from my previous response, I received two different answers.
