Re: Seamaster non-water-resistant?

: I am still curious about my Seamaster. Was it
: ever designed to be water resistant?

Yes. All watches that bore the Seamaster name were originally water resistant. Though many of the dressy-styled ones were only to what would have equalled a modern rating of 30-50 meters. Not that big a deal by modern standards, but by the standards of those decades, any water resistance was pretty special.

: It just looks too "pretty" to be a water
: resistant watch. But it bears the name
: "Seamaster", how could it NOT be
: waterproof?

The big bulky diver's-style casings are needed only for much greater depth ratings of 100 meters or more. A style like yours can easily be made water resistant to 30 or 50 meters with a properly sealing case and decent rubber seals around the crown, back and crystal.

In fact today, every OMEGA watch made -- even the ladies models -- leave the factory with water resistant of at least 50 meters.
