Re: Fortis
In Response To: Fortis ()

I own a Fortis and I agree with the basis premise that they are good quality and value but they are not particularly exciting watches.

The movements they use are generally stock ETA or Lemania movements with minimal modifications or embelishements. One wonders what Fortis will do when ETA ceases supplying the raw movements.

The case and bracelet designs are rather straight forward and simple, but the resulting timepieces are very nicely executed and are usually extremely legible at a relatively low price point, IMHO.

My Fortis Diver is not COSC certified, but has always been approximately 4-5 seconds/day slow when worn 24/7. It has a simple rugged look to it. My COSC SMP is a bit more accurate, 3.5 sec/day fast. The Fortis list price when purchased was approx 40% of the SMP If I recall.

: I am considering adding a Fortis B42 to my
: collection. I dont really know too much
: about their reputation and position in the
: hierarchy of watch companies. Anyone have
: any opinions?
