I think you have probably done the right thing.
I was at Uni when I fell in love with Omegas (especially the Seamasters) and I decided to wait until I could better afford it.
I have probably waited a little too long, though. I graduated five years ago, I am now married and my wife and I are trying to buy a bigger house so I have better things to spend my money on. Having said that, my wife keeps nagging me to stop being so cautious and to buy the watch!!!
I think the moral of the story is that there is always something else you can spend good money on that a watch, so wait until you have graduated, but don't leave it too long after that to take the plunge!!!!
