Re: Local Servicing/Warranty Question

: I have a Bond SMP 2531.80 that has been running
: about 4-5 seconds fast per day since I got
: it a year and a half ago.

That is actually within spec. Though with proper regulation, that watch shold be able to do even better.

: My question is, by having a local jeweler
: service the watch, will I invalidate the
: remaining 6 months of factory warranty

No. Just like with a car, you are free to have normal maintenance issues handled by any qualified person without voiding the warranty.

About the only way the factory warranty would be voided is if the maintenance was done improperly enough that it caused or contributed to whatever you were later claiming as a warranty repair issue. Or if a repair or modification was done with inappropriate or non-OMEGA parts.

But realize that the case and bracelet of the 2531.80 use a special combination of brushed and polished finishes. The jeweler you use needs to have the appropriate OMEGA polishing wheels for the Seamaster series watches in order to buff out scratches the way an OMEGA service center would.
