I'd suggest stepping up your budget a little bit and getting the OMEGA Aqua Terra Railmaster.
Many of the current TAG models are nothing special -- expensive fashion watches. And that's how the TAG 2000 Classic comes across to me.
The OMEGA Dynamic Pilot's watch is my favorite everyday casual watch, but it is not quite a 'lifetime' watch and it is a bit too casual for dressier wear.
But the Railmaster has the newer OMEGA coaxial movement, which should have superb lifetime durability. It also has a classic look which has the high-readability and matte black dial like the Dynamic, but is way more elegant and refined. Plus the 38mm size is bold without going overboard.
