Re: Is AT Quartz available with White Dial?

: Since you own the DD I was wondering if you
: ever get tired of the plain looking dial?

No. It is far from plain -- it is one of the more interesting watches I have.

: You said the DD is 36mm. Do you consider a 36mm
: watch to be a small watch or “average”
: sized?

Average. It is the same size (except a little thinner) as a Rolex DateJust -- the definitive example of regular size gents watch.

: I also read your earlier response
: about the AT leather straps and deployant
: buckles. Do you wear your DD on a strap or
: with a deployant buckle?

I have numerous straps for my DD. It looks great on a wide range of styles and colors. So I have a brown suede strap (Dakota Watch Company), a yellow alligator-look strap (Banda), a yellow shark-look strap (Citizen), a black croc strap (Hirsch) and the NATO nylon straps in grey, black and olive.

But I don't use a deployant on that watch. The deployants often aren't a good fit on people with smaller wrists like mne (6.75").

: I’m guessing
: deployants are available for the DD too?

Certainly. Watch straps are like car tires -- you can get them from numerous brands and places. As long as you get the right size, it will fit.

: Any
: idea if the brown leather Omega Strap also
: sells for around $160 too (which is what I
: think you said the alligator strap sells
: for)?

The OMEGA brown leather one for the DD is closer to $80 with a standard tang-type buckle. Its kind of an odd olive-ish brown, like the color of a well worn bomber jacket.

But I got my brown suede strap from a Dakota Watch Company (www.dakotawatchco.com) kiosk at a local mall for under $20. They have a lot of very affordable distressed-leather straps that look great on pilot's style watches.

Technically, the DD requires a 19mm strap, but many 20mm straps that have any flex will fit it fine without looking like a forced fit.
