I bought my Seamaster from E-bay from a private individual that was still under warranty. I wouldn't have bought it any other way sight unseen. The original dealer verified the warranty on that particular serial nuber so I rested easy and I have a very nice two year old Seamaster that was essentailly brand new and paid half of retail for it.
E-bay is a buyer's beware market on stuff like this.
I've bought many professional sound equipment pieces like rack equipment, microphones, and recording equipment, etc., which is also a gamble, but those items cannot be faked like fine watches, handbags, crystal, and other luxury items.
