I bought the America's Cup Because of it's connection to the event. That is what drove the purchase. I grew up sailing and had a fasciantion with The America's Cup.
The complaint by most people about the America's Cup LE was that it said America's Cup on it. They really liked the watch, but didn't like the connection. The Non-America's Cup was a perfect choice for them. I agree with you that the dial is cleaner and the engraving is nice on the AC. Last time I saw one, the blue dial SeMP 2255.80.00 didn't have applied metal markers. They are painted, and have luminous material over them. The markers on the AC are the same.
If the America's Cup LE is the one that speaks to you, then get it. I was just trying to let you know there was an alternative. As far as it being too similar to the Blue Dial SeMP, that's up to you to decide. I don't think I would get two so similar. In fact, I got the White Dial Seamaster GMT because the Black Dial would be too similar to my America's Cup. If it were me, I 'd be looking into an Aqua Terra, Speedmaster, DeVille, or even the Costellation Double Eagle just for a real change of pace.
: Keith, Those pictures are magnificent. Thanks.
: If you hadn't bought your AC, and had to
: choose between the AC and Non Ac, which
: would it be? I am leaning toward the AC.
: Reason, I just purchased a Seamaster Pro,
: blue, and it has applied markers and logo.
: With all of the engraving, and the face
: having substantially less text on the AC, I
: think it looks cleaner, and unique, albeit,
: for 9999 made. Are the markers on the AC
: printed on as is the logo? I think if I
: indeed did purchase the non AC, it would be
: too much like my current SMP, with the
: exception of the face color and bezel
: material. Do you think the AC is too
: similiar to my new SMP? Should I wait for
: another model? My desire factor for this
: watch is really high, and if I would have
: found this watch two weeks ago, I would have
: bought it and not the blue, although I
: really like the blue.
