: Don't be too quick to believe such articles.
: Just the day before, several media outlets
: were claiming Orlando Bloom has been signed
: to star in a film as a college-age James
: Bond to appeal to younger audiences.
: Such rumors often get poorly misreported as
: fact. This has happened numerous times
: before each new Bond film started production
: over the past several decades. So wait for
: an official announcement direct from MGM or
: EON Productions before believing such
: babble.
I agree that it's not an official MGM announcement. But, it makes sense - especially given the Brosnan's own statements in recent interviews indicating he's not doing another film. I've been reading for months that Bana was among the logical choices.
: Maybe -- if OMEGA even contnues to be the
: 'Bond' watch (which I hope it does). But
: with the 007 producers trying for a new look
: and feel to the films (as reported), they
: may give a new actor a noticably different
: image in dress and accessories.
I agree - it seems likely a new watch will be chosen if a new Bond is in the movie. This aspect seems the most certain at this point.
: Sure, why not. His association with OMEGA goes
: far beyond just James Bond.
Hmm....I suppose. But he got the job because he played James Bond. I'm not sure it's in Omega's best interests to keep him around as an ambassador if there's a new Bond. If Omega can strike a deal with MGM to keep an Omega of some sort as the James Bond watch, then it makes sense make the new Bond actor the next ambassador. I'm just not certain Brosnan brings any value to the table as an Omega ambassador if he's not the guy playing James Bond.
