Some interesting perspective on this model...
In Response To: james bond coax gmt ()

The one disadvantage I see to this GMT relative to the other SMP GMT models is that is only handles TWO, not three timezones. On the other GMT models, you have the GMT bezel, which when rotated, allows tracking a third timezone. But the new Bond GMT has a diver's bezel instead, so you are limited to tracking only two time zones.

I suspect OMEGA chose to keep the diver's bezel to minimize the changes from the classic Bond SMP. So both this model and the original can be considered interchangable as "James Bond" watches. I believe OMEGA is hoping with this model to accomplish two things:

  1. As a more upscale product to be positioned for use in the next Bond film, yet with a look so close that it keeps the watch in the movies consistent and doesn't confuse buyers.

  2. As a way to upsell buyers interested in the classic Bond watch into a more expensive, more exclusive model. That eliminates the current dillema of having to choose between the Bond watch *or* one of OMEGA's more advanced models featuring the unique and exclusive Coaxial movement.
