Re: Don't be so quick to believe misreported rumor

: Well, this wasn't just any old Internet rumor -
: it's running through the AP. Until MGM
: directly refutes the report, I see no reason
: not to take it seriously.

I look at it the other way... until MGM *confirms* it, I consider it a bogus rumor. Every time before when an announcement was made as to who would be the star of the next Bond film, it always comes as an official studio announcement.

Notice all these stories fail to credit any offical source. Some credit an "unnamed insider." Even then, these stories mostly claim he is in negotiations, but nothing is final.

Plus, many of these stories carry other bogus information. Such as mentioning studio Miramax (which has nothing to do with Bond) or claiming the next Bond movie would be "The Man With The Red Tatoo" -- which is a Raymond Benson novel. None of the Gardner or Benson novels have ever been likely candidates for being made into the movies. The producers are more likely to seek an original screenplay or go for a serious remake of "Casino Royale."

: Which model do you see as being a good
: replacement? I sort of half way wouldn't
: mind seeing Bond wear a Rolex again.

That would depend on the actor. But I see the new SMP Coaxial GMT as a likely fit for most anybody in the role. Even if the watch has no or minimal special functions used in the film.
