Re: High end quartz watches?
In Response To: High end quartz watches? ()

: I can see paying $$ for an automatic Seamaster,
: or Colt, but not sure how I ended up with a
: high $$ quartz?

The cost of the movement is less than 5% of the cost of a luxury watch, so really isn't that important in the scheme of things.

The reality is... luxury watches are men's jewelry - period. That's what you paid for, that's what you got. So as long as you choose whichever movement best suits your interest and needs, you did the right thing.

Debates over buying quartz versus mechanical watches is about like car afficionados debating manual versus automatic transmissions. Both have their places, their appeals and their disadvantages. So there is no clear, single best answer for everybody other than to go with whichever suits your needs and desires best.

: a Citizen Eco-Drive will give the same accurace,
: at a much lower cost

Exactly. So think about it -- what else are you buying BUT jewelry and other esoteric and intangible values in purchasing a >$200 watch?!?
