Update. I heard from the seller. He actually is a Chronocentric reader! He was rather surprised at my analysis of suspicions aspects of his listing.
I advised him that by leaving unexplained so many unusual aspects of his listing (missing accessories for a still-new watch, use of private listings and his below-market value expectations in price), he left himself widely open to such speculation.
He seemed very appreciative of the advice. I'll leave it to him to answer any questions to potential buyers, but his explanation of the origin of the watch and other issues seems suitable to me. At this point I see nothing at all wrong with this auction. May the best man win!
