I should have my hands on my Omega in the next day or two- at that time, please, please stop me and say hello! Since you are at the Pentagon, that could happen- I live in Silver Spring, MD and work in Rockville!
Unfortunately, my bet is that for most people it is simply a watch, perhaps even a watch they settled for on the way to the Rolex they REALLY wanted.
Now, here is another theory. I bet if you see someone wearing any type of upscale vintage watch- or even just 10 years old, THEY would be more than willing to chew your ear off about it.
: about 4 - 8 times a month traveling for
: work...and have had the same
: experiences....those people don't know
: anything about watches. It's just a
: moderatly priced watched they bought or the
: wife gave them. That's it. Now, when we had
: the Air Commodore (Royal Airforce general
: officer) in to visit my boss, they all wore
: Omega. SeMP Chronos. And were happy to talk
: about it.
: At the Pentagon...the few guys I ran into there
: had them as status symbols...just wanted an
: expensive watch....when I told them I water
: ski with my GMT - the look of horror was
: almost funny. They said they had G-Shocks
: for that....so do I, but I don't baby my
: Omega either.
